A Sailor's Life for Me!
History: This Crystal Cutlass is said to have been created on the Plane
of Water itself, by a group of Triton priests, acting under the direct
orders of Ishtisihia herself. How long ago this happened, no one knows,
but that is known, that while none of the elemental lords seems to have
appeared during the time of troubles, this sword did.
This distinctive blade became associated with Merala the Merciless (not
original, but she was never accused of being a smart pirate). Her ship,
the "Capsize" became well known within Amn, Tethyr, and Calimshan, as she
preferred to raid the shipping lanes close to her home base, somewhere
within the Nelanther Pirate Isles. Much of her success can probably be
attributed to her crew, over 40 ogres, led by a dozen Ogre magi. [Most
scholars who study this sort of thing fell that Chiang Taol (Ogre Magi F,
M-12) was the true leader of the ship]. After nearly 3 dozen successful
raids, the Capsize fell victim to a ambush set up by the Council of Six,
rulers of Amn. By spending great amounts of money, they were able to find
nearly two dozen arrows of slaying ogres. This, along with the fire based
spells of several expensive mercenary wizards, sent the Capsize to the bottom.
The wreck has never been found. It is believed that some (possibly even
Chiang) survived through their flight and invisibility powers, and now are
united with the Sythillisian Empire, that even now, threatens Amn.
Appearance: This cutlass appears to be made of a single piece of clear
crystal, like quartz. However, along the center of the blade, a roiling,
foaming mass of blue water appears to be in the center. Then guard has, on
the outer face, the Wave holy symbol embossed in a brilliant azure.
Powers: Ishtisihia's Boon was indeed made upon the plane of water, and
the spirit of a Greater Water Elemental was used to infuse the blade with
it's power, thus it is a sentient blade. Int 17, Ego 22, AL N. The
sword's true purpose, other than defeating minions of fire has not been
revealed.
Constant: Cutlass +5/+8 (+3/+6, on the Prime Material) vs fire using and
dwelling creatures. The Wielder is immune to normal fire, and receives a
+4 to saves, and a -2/per die of damage magical, and breath weapon fire
based attacks. It also acts as a ring of free action and water breathing
whenever it is drawn. It allows the wielder to communicate with any water
based/dwelling creatures. On Nat. 20- Sting of Salt: Opponent must save
vs poison, or -2 to all attacks for 2d4 rds.
Invoked: The wielder can cast spells from the Elemental Water sphere as a
Cleric of his Level with a 17 wisdom.
3x/day: Create Water as 6th lvl cleric
3/tenday: Turn a flask of wine into a healing potion (1d4+1 H.P.)
1/month: Summon a 16 H.D. Water Elemental
