Blade properties:
o Enchantment enables the Lightblade to be wielded as if it were a short
sword w/ respect to encumbrance, weight, speed factor, and ease of use
(i.e., the weapon appears to all viewers as a two-handed sword, and inflicts
two-handed sword damage, but the wielder feels and reacts as if the blade
was a short sword). Any individual able to use either a short sword or a
two-handed sword w/ proficiency is proficient in the use of the Lightblade.
o In normal combat, the glowing golden blade of the weapon is equal to a +3
sword. Against evil creatures this bonus increases to a bonus of +6. Against
Negative Material Plane creatures or those that draw energy or power from
that plane (such as certain undead), the sword causes double normal damage
and double the bonus damage. Any evil character touching it will recieve 5d4
points of damage due to the powerful enchantments laid upon the weapon. If
the Lightblade strikes any undead creature or evil creature from one of the
lower planes, it may utterly destroy the creature. Skeletons, zombies,
ghouls, wights, ghasts, wraiths, and lesser mummies, if hit, are instantly
blasted out of existence. Other creatures roll saving throws as follows:
Creature Save
Greater Mummy 19
Spectres 16
Vampires 13
Ghosts 10
Liches 7
Other affected evil creatures 4
Even if these saving throws are effective, the Lightblade scores triple
normal damage upon opponents of this sort, and triple the damage bonus.
o Furthermore, Lightblade has a sunray power similar to that of the SUNRAY
spell found on p.299 in the PHB. With this ability, the user of the
Lightblade may evoke a dazzling sphere of light, equal to full daylight in
radiance, by touching the clenched fist pommel and speaking the name of the
sword, thereby releasing the enchanted Sunstone in it's grasp. The Sunstone
then hovers in the air above the wielder's head and begins to radiate light
of unimaginable brilliance. The first round the light shines in a 30' sphere
around the wielder, spreading in a 5' radius per round for ten rounds, ending
in an 80' sphere, after which the Sunstone returns to the grasp of the sword
pommel, and the light persists in a dim glow for another turn before
disappearing entirely. All creatures in the area of effect must roll
successful saving throws vs. petrification or be blinded for 1d3+3 rounds,
those using Infravision at the time 2d4+6 rounds. Creatures to whom sunlight
is harmful or unnatural suffer permanent blindness if the saving throw is
failed, and are blinded for 2d6+10 rounds if the save is successful. Those
within its area of effect, as well as creatures within 20 feet of its
perimeter, lose any Infravision capabilities for 1d4+4 rounds after the light
disipates. Undead caught within the area of effect recieve 10d6 points of
damage, one-half if a save vs. spell is successful. Those undead 20 feet away
from the area of effect recieve 4d6 points of damage, no damage if the save
was successful. In addition, the ray may result in the total destruction of
those undead specifically affected by sunlight, if they fail a save vs. death.
The ultraviolet light generated by this ability inflicts damage on Fungoid
creatures and subterranean fungi just as if they were undead, but no saving
throw allowed. This ability can be used twice a day, but will not function
within an hour of the last usage.
o Lightblade functions as a Holy Sword when used by a Paladin.
