Armor of Nobianon
History: During the height of the Power of the Genies of Calim and
Memnon, great power was at their feet, and some of that power always fell
on those at their feet. As the wars raged at their height one of the most
powerful non-genies within the armies of Memnon was Alzhd-Kelim, leader of
one of the most powerful wings of Memnon's Calvary. Alzhd-Kelim was a
Rhino-taur?, (whatever those rhino-man things were called in Star of
Cursrah), and stronger and smarter than most of his breed. On the eve of a
great battle, Memnon himself appeared before Alzhd, and gifted him with a
great suit of armor, depicting a great lion upon its breastplate. The
Armor served him well, he wore it, and it was not until Memnon and Calim
were imprisoned, and the human slaves rose up in rebellion, that the
powerful fighter was taken down. The Armor was lost for several centuries.

It was when the armor resurfaced, however, that it gained the name by
which it is now known by. Two centuries ago, around 1100DR a wemic pride,
led by Clever Teeth, was waging a war upon the Thri-Kreen of the Shaar, and
losing. One day, while scouting in Thri-Kreen Territory, Clever Teeth fell
into a pit, littered with the skeletons of some giant half-human half-rhino
humanoids. In addition, he found a set of gigantic field plate- full
barding made of gold, and embossed with the image of a roaring Lion on the
breast plate. Taking it as a sign from Nobianon, King of Beasts, he
strapped the armor to himself, and found that it shrunk to accommodate his
smaller size, and was barely noticeable, impairing his mobility not a whit.
By using the power of this armor, he was able to unite many of the sparse
Wemic tribes that littered the Shaar, and together, they were able to
defeat the Thri-Kreen threat. Thus the Armor was passed from father to son
in Clever Teeth's tribe.

Twenty years ago, 1150 DR, a horde of Thri-Kreen descended upon the valley
where Clever Teeth's (the 8th to bear that name) tribe was preparing to
spend the night. Two days later, when a scout retuned from a border
fortress where he had been trading for steel spear heads, he found the
bodies of most of his 50 strong tribe, along with the bodies of no less
than 100 Thri-Kreen. Of Clever Teeth, his Golden Armor, or his Enchanted
Spear, there was no sign. What became of him and his armor is still an
unsolved mystery.

Appearance: The Armor of Nobianon appears as a brilliant suit of golden
Plate mail from the torso-up, and a set of full barding, ending in Lion's
Claws for feet, from the Torso down. No seams can be detected in the
craftsmanship, yet, the armor fits almost like a second skin, not impeding
movement in the least. Upon the golden breastplate lies the Raised relief
of a lion roaring, complete with a full mane that appears to be made of red
flames. The lion's eyes are of two different colors one appears as a
nearly blinding white, the other appears as the blackest of night.

Powers: This Armor functions as Plate Mail +3 (AC -1)for any
Man-quadruped hybrid. It will shrink to fit any from Hybsil (don't ask,
don't know where its from) to a creature larger than a centaur.

The armor allows its wielder to speak with any feline, and any feline must
make a sv vs spells to attack the bearer (as long as the bearer makes no
attacks against it).

The Claws at the end of the Arm Grieves (and front legs), end in diamond
tipped claws, that are +3 weapons and slash for 1d8+3 points of damage.

The open mouth of the lion acts as a bag of holding with a capacity of 100
lbs.

The eyes of the lion act as mini-gates to the positive and negative
material planes, allowing the wearer to do either Cure Light Wounds, or
Cause Light Wounds, a total number of times per day equal to his/her level.
These ranged attacks have a range of 20 yards, but otherwise conform to
the spells in every respect.

1/Day, the bearer, can at a mental command cause the lion head to roar, as
per the Roar of the King spell under Nobianon's entry in P&P.

Also, once per day, the wearer can shape-shift into a golden lion, of AC
-4, 3 attacks (claw/claw/bite) d8+3/d8+3/2d10+3, and a base move of 25.
this lasts for up to one turn per level of the wearer.
