HISTORY:  Several months ago, a great relict was stolen from the Gnome
hold of StonyGarden.  It was a miraculous dagger, wielded by Garl
Glittergold himself to slay an entire tribe of hill giants bent on
destroying a Gnomish Prince, whose descendents would one day lead their
people to greatness.  This Dagger, the Miracle of Glittergold, has become a
symbol of great pride of religious significance to the Gnomes of the
Shaeradim Mountains.

The great-grandson of the Gnome Warrior who was entrusted with this
dagger, has taken up the quest to retrieve the holy relic.  Steelflint (NG,
gn-m Ill-5/F-7) is now looking for a band of worthy adventures to help him
on his quest.  In particular, he is looking for someone with tracking
skills (such as a Ranger), and persons with better Divination spells than
he (a cleric or another mage).  He would also welcome others with useful
skills, such as a "general adventurer" (thief), or a strong pack mul...
Fighter.  He has no clue about where to start looking, other than a strange
magical residue at the site of the theft.  He is willing to pay 1,000 G.P.
per person if the item is returned safely (though he can only afford 500
G.P.), plus equal shares in any treasure the group finds along the way.

He has left word with many gnome friends throughout the Realms, and is
hoping for them to get in contact with him.  Any successful adventuring
party with a good reputation is liable to be approached by a Gnome and
asked to help on this religious quest.

Steelflint possesses Obsid, an Obsidian Short Sword +1, A permanently
Blessed Holy Symbol of Glittergold, a Wand of Mineral Detection, and a pair
of Gloves of Magic Missile Catching (see upcoming Magic:  Magic Missiles
post).

The Truth is that the Dagger was stolen by Dquerna, a Derro
Priestess/Psionisct of Deep Duera.  She (LE Dw(derro)f P9/Ps10) used her
psionic powers to infiltrate the arcane defenses surrounding the Dagger.
The magical radiance around the crime scene was from her use of the Deep
Duera spell Augment Psionics (DD).

She has taken the dagger, because she has learned an obscure Skullport
Trading Coaster is offering a 5,000 G.P. reward for any who bring the
dagger to the head of the Coaster, Q'sthiliisis.  Using the passages of the
Underdark, it should take her 3 months to complete her task.
