Description
The Shadow Sword of Sionthal is named for the warrior mage who
fashioned it, said to be a prince of the Fallen Kingdoms. The sword is a
bastard sword, forged of an unknown metal, whos' black and grey mottled
pattern can be seen to slowly shift in shape and formation, with a hilt
formed of a large black opal wrapped in gray leather.
Powers
The Shadow Sword imbues its wielder with the following powers, merely by
possession:
-Ability to Hide in shadows as a thief of the same level (use the table in
the DMG for values). If already possessing the ability, wielder gains a
10% bonus.
-Lanterns, torches, and any light generating spell of less than 4th level
within 60 feet of the sword are dampened, clearly illuminating an area
half as large as normal. The remainder of the normal radius is filled
with shadows.
-The wielder is shielded from the notice of most creatures native to the
Demiplane of Shadow. Any such creature attempting to attack the wielder
must make saves, or lose intrest in the wielder (as per the clerical
Sanctuary spell). This protection ends if the wielder attacks a target
so affected.
-The Shadow Swords greatest power, which is useable up to three times per
month, is the Shadow Strike. The sword can create 2-7 (d6+1) duplicates
of the wielder (treat in all ways as if created by the wizard spell
Shadow Monster) which will aid the wielder in combat. They last for 7
rounds, or until "killed", whichever comes first.
In combat, the sword has a +1 to hit and damage, except when on the
Demiplane of Shadow, where it becomes a +2 weapons in all respects.
