Another delay, due to war -
I've been mostly glued to the TV watching the war coverage. There's a lot of comment and commentary I could give. But I'll save you the soapbox speech, and just say a couple of things. First of all, I am whole-heartedly against this war at this time. I agree with the principal and I absolutely feel that Saddam needs to be out of there. However, we should not have engaged without the support of the UN. Making enemies of allies is never a good idea, and in this volitile world, it's an even worse idea. Now having said all that, I would also like to say that I'm behind our troops 100%. They are over there, thousands of miles from home fighting in a war for their Commander in Chief. They are brave men and women, some of whom will not return to US soil. They need our support and love and appreciation for what they do for us.

On to my next point. It's okay to protest against war -- before it starts. After our troops have engaged, and are fighting and dying for our freedoms, it's time to stop protesting. It sends negative messages to our people, creates extra work for local law enforcement (law enforcement that could be out protecting us from terrorist attacks) and it literally solves nothing. Once the war is on, it's not going to stop because some idiots decided to lay down in the middle of the street in downtown Manhattan. NOTHING is getting solved by protesting. Spend your negative energy doing domething else. Donate that that time to a better cause, like volunteering at homeless shelters or at local hospitals. Or is that too much of a commitment for ya?

Sorry for the long delay -
I've been working on setting up a MySQL database and some JSP to start up a custom FEATS section in my d20 area. It will basically allow you to view/add custom feats added by me, you and whoever else decides to add a feat. Hopefully I will have that up within the next week. If it goes well, I will do one maybe for some other d20 stuff.

Code Monkey eTools for $30 -
Code Monkey is now the owner for all publishing rights for eTools and official eTools data sets. As such, they're selling thier patched eTools 1.01 on their website for $30. The best part is, it's CDless. Check it out!

I Created My First Ever Prestige Class -
The main ongoing campaign that I play recently converted over to 3E. Our cleric was originally created with the treespeaker kit from "Warriors and Priests of the Realms." As such, I took it upon myself to create a custom d20 OGL version prestige class. Check out my d20 section as you will find her there.

Commentary -
First off...Thank God someone is going to pick up the ball on eTools! This is a great program that is extremely customizable (though I'd like to see an easier way to enter/create a prestige class). It's been dead for a while, and the info on the Fluid Entertainment website is a joke. The beta patch even pretty much sucked. I'm very glad that WotC and CMP could come to an agreement and breath new life into a cool product.

In the RPGA section of the WotC website this week they put up initiative cards. They're basically a tool for the DM to help keep better track of combat and such. Though these cards from WotC are okay, I much prefer the ones available from The Game Mechanics. Much nicer, easier to use, and some pretty verbose instructions to help you out. Go check 'em out! (They're in the "Experiments" section)

I started building my links section out. I put it up, but it is by no means complete. It's going well I guess...I started with just a top-down list, but I'm contemplating a bit of re-organization.

Goooo Mikey!!! -
It's not often you find a gamer who's also an avid Nascar fan, but I'm one of 'em. Welp, one of the nicest guys in professional racing today has won the 45th Daytona 500 (rain shortened). Congratulations to Michael Waltrip, Slugger and the rest of the DEI Napa Chevy crew. Jimmie Johnson (my favorite driver) finished 3rd, and Jeff Gordon finished 12th.

Haunted Halls PBeM -
I submitted a character that was selected for the Haunted Halls play by email game. Caerik Therash is a Half-elven Ranger/Cleric modeled loosely on the character from my regular campaign. Here is his character sheet with spell sheet and a more detailed background in an NPC writeup I did for him.

Malhavoc Press Press Release -
Over the past 3 or 4 years, one of the names that has been synonymous with D&D, is Monte Cook. From his part in the 3rd Edition core rulebooks and his many contributions to Dragon Magazine to his recent work on The Book of Vile Darkness. Then there's Malhavoc Press, his own project that has brought us some excellent titles like The Book of Eldritch Might and Requiem For a God. Yesterday I received this press release in my email box.

New Stuff at WotC -
  · A new "Map-a-week"
  · New Perilous Gateways - Portals of the Moonsea
  · New Rand's Travelogue - More Silverymoon

My Group's Campaign Adventure -
My campaign group has been gaming together for the last 5 or 6 years on the same campaign. There have been times where real life got in the way and we didn't play for many months. We recently got back to playing on a somewhat consistant basis (once or twice a month), and so I've also been updating the campaign logs on the site. I will get them up in a couple of days.

Cloak of Invisibility -
In real world news, it seems Japan is trying to merge fantasy with reality with their true life cloak of invisibility. Special thanks to Mark Koan for sending that one in.

New Site Design Launched -
As you can see the new look and feel of the site is up. Now using JSP, I'm hoping that I can design some really cool dynamic content for you all to enjoy. Now for the next few days, I'm going to be cleaning up a lot of the subpage stuff. Please bare with me while I complete the conversion.

Web Enhancement -
WoTC has already put out the web enhancement for their upcoming release, "Savage Species." The enhancement is available at the Wizards' website. This enhancement contains two new character races. The Laika (a dog-like humanoid) and the Imago (an insect-like humanoid).

Progressing -
I'm progressing nicely on a re-design. I've gone through server comps of design ideas, but it's a slow process. I'm also looking at converting to JSP, maybe get some dynamic content going. Just a thought.

New at WoTC -
Here's the latest and greatest at the Wizards shop:
  · Elminster Speaks - Khôltar, Part 11
  · Winter Fantasy 2003

STS-107 -
With a heavy heart, I send my condolences to the families of the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia. It was a rude awakening on this Saturday morning, to discover such a tragedy had occurred. Best wishes that they heal quickly.

Take a moment to mourn in your own way for these individuals:
  · Commander Rick D. Husband - U.S. Air Force
  · Commander William C. McCool - U.S. Navy
  · Colonel Ilan Ramon - Israel Air Force
  · Lt. Colonel Michael P. Anderson - U.S. Air Force
  · Dr. Kalpana Chawla - Nasa
  · Commander Laurel B. Clark - U.S. Navy
  · Captain David M. Brown - U.S. Navy

d20 PDF Downloads -
I bought and downloaded a couple of d20 PDF's. I have to say, I'm liking the idea of brand new source material that you can download from the net. And the best part is, most of the material is from reliable sources (eg ex WoTC writers/editors/designers). Good stuff Maynard.

  · The Book of Eldritch Might by Malhavoc Press (Monte Cook)
  · The Book of Hallowed Might by Malhavoc Press (Monte Cook)
  · Swords of Our Fathers by The Game Mechanics (JD Wiker)

If you don't already have these titles, I'd highly reccommend them. Three great sourcebooks for $17.

Wryms of the North -
There's a new Wyrm's of the North up in the Forgotten Realms section of the WoTC website. Felgolos, "The Flying Misfortune" converted from Dragon Magazine #238 written by Ed Greenwood with supplementary material provided by Sean K Reynolds.

OMG! Another Update! -
Change is good...but it's going to be gradual. I added a News blob from Eric Noah's d20reviews site since I'm not always going to be able to update my news on a daily basis.

2nd Edition AD&D -
I've received a few emails asking if I was going to take down the 2nd Edition material. The answer is no. I will keep all my 2nd Edition materials in tact. Some of it may even get converted over to 3E d20.

DO or DICE! -
A site for gamers. They have CCG's, RPG's, Miniatures, Dice, Videos...Everything a growing gamer needs. Oh, and Simon sent along a 10% off coupon for us to share. Props to Simon. Finally an Update! -
I'm going to attempt to update the site and get lotsa d20 stuff up. I've been too lazy, too long on this thing, so it's time to move. I'm thinkin' I'm gonna redesign the whole look and feel of the place...
